Bayern Munich have become the latest soccer club to open an account on TikTok, the short-form video sharing platform.
The Bavarian based side currently top the Bundesliga, German soccer’s top division, and have a combined 80 million fans across their 11 existing social media channels.
The account, which has already passed 19,000 fans, will allow users to access exclusive Bayern video clips and special filters designed to increase fan engagement. Other soccer teams to have joined the platform, known as Douyin in China, include Borussia Dortmund and French clubs Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco.
The team launched their TikTok profile to coincide with their game against fellow title challengers Dortmund on Saturday, 6th April. In its first shared content, the club chose to highlight videos made by its own fans.
Bayern are a point ahead of Dortmund with seven games left to play in the league. They face seventh-placed Werder Bremen on Saturday 20th April.
