Blockchain platform gives fans Kodak moment at US sports venues

Fans at six major US sports venues will have access to the new blockchain-based KodakOne image rights management platform following a partnership between WENN Digital, the creator of the service, and the Oak View Group (OVG).

The participating OVG arenas include the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) AT&T Center (San Antonio Spurs), Bankers Life Fieldhouse (Indiana Pacers), Golden 1 Center (Sacramento Kings) and Talking Stick Resort Arena (Phoenix Suns), along with National Hockey League (NHL) venues the Xcel Energy Center (Minnesota Wild) and the Prudential Center (New Jersey Devils).

The partnership will allow anyone visiting those arenas have access to the upcoming KodakOne platform, enabling them to upload, register and protect their in-venue photos and videos via the service’s blockchain technology.

In addition, WENN Digital and each of the six venues will collaborate to build a platform that allows fans to use KodakCoin Token cryptocurrency for various in-arena transactions and promotions. The stadia will also work with the company to register their own video and photo content to be protected on the KodakOne platform.

“We want to introduce the KodakOne platform to a creative audience that we believe will both benefit from its functionality and serve as early adopters,” said WENN Digital chief executive Jan Denecke.

“The KodakOne platform is being designed specifically to enable users to upload, register and share their work, as well as be compensated for it in certain instances. Given the millions of fantastic live event photographs generated each year at OVG’s Arena Alliance venues, this was a natural place for us to start.”
