New Coppa Italia final platform features in-stadium streaming

Lega Serie A, the governing body for Italian soccer competitions, and the Infront agency have launched a dedicated fan experience app for the upcoming final of the Coppa Italia, the premier cup competition in Italy.

The TIM Cup Finale 2019 Fan+ app utilises an Infront platform offered by Italian clubs Genoa, Sampdoria and Udinese that offers users inside the stadium to stream the action live on their phones, offering a choice of camera angles. There are 16 distinct cameras angles plus a Spidercam which hovers above the pitch.

Fans inside the Stadio Olimpico in Rome will be able to connect to a dedicated Wi-Fi network and stream the action on their phone whilst simultaneously watching the game.

The app also offers attendees access to exclusive digital autographs from the players featured in the final, video content, games, news and statistics.

The Fan+ platform offered by Genoa, Sampdoria and Udinese also offers users the option order food and drink from their seat via the app and collect their purchase when it is ready, but it unclear if that function will be made available for the Coppa Italia final.

Luigi De Siervo, Lega Serie A chief executive, said: “We are excited about the launch of the new app dedicated to the final because it will allow all the fans present at the stadium to live an exclusive and personalised experience.

“Mobile applications are now increasingly common in everyday life, the real challenge is to be able to provide all enthusiasts with an engaging service that can improve the fan experience.”

Jean Thomas Sauerwein, managing director of Infront Italy, added: “We are pleased to have concluded this partnership with Lega Serie A for the TIM Cup Final, because it represents an important step in the continuous research and creation of services that improve interaction with the fans at the stadium.

“We have already successfully launched the Fan+ model with Genoa, Sampdoria and Udinese, and I am sure that this solution can lead Infront to strengthen its role as digital partner of clubs, leagues and federations.”

The Coppa Italia final takes place on 15th May between Lazio and Atalanta after the sides’ victories over AC Milan and Fiorentina in the semi-finals respectively.
