Facebook Live has acquired Indian digital streaming rights from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the remaining fixtures of the AFC Cup, the continent's secondary club soccer competition.
The first match to fall under the agreement will be Indian side JSW Bengaluru’s home game against North Korean outfit 4.25 SC in the competition’s Inter-Zone semi-final on 23rd August. The tournament, which features teams from Asia's emerging soccer-playing nations, will continue until 4th November.
“This is another memorable moment for football in Asia,” said Dato’ Windsor John, general secretary of the AFC. “India is one of the fastest growing football markets in the world and now the millions of fans in the country will have a chance to watch this important game.
“We are delighted that we are expanding our digital offering and at the same time connecting with so many other stakeholders.”
