Former Formula One world champion Nico Rosberg has become a shareholder and long-term investor in all-electric racing series Formula E.
The retired German-Finnish racing driver will also give next season’s new Gen2 car its first public demonstration run at the Berlin ePrix on 19th May.
No further details about the shareholding have been disclosed.
“Since my retirement, I’ve become very interested in the e-mobility movement and its potential to positively impact our society and our planet,” said Rosberg, 32. “I’ve therefore also long believed in the potential of Formula E and came on board as an investor some time ago.”
Mercedes, with whom Rosberg won his Formula One title and for whom he serves as an ambassador, is due to enter Formula E in the 2019/20 season. German media have linked Rosberg to a possible management role with that team.
Formula E heads to Italy’s capital for the first time on 14th April for the Rome ePrix.
