Chinese media giant secures digital partnership with ASO.

Tencent Sports inks Tour de France deal

Chinese internet and media giant Tencent Sports has added the Tour de France to its burgeoning portfolio of sport rights after signing a deal with Amaury Sports Organisation (ASO), the operator of the Tour.

Tencent has acquired the exclusive rights to stream every stage of the 2017 Tour de France, which started on Saturday 1st July, across its various over-the-top (OTT), digital and internet platforms.
Tencent will also deliver highlights and additional coverage via its social media channels, QQ and Wechat.

Ji Cheng, who became the first Chinese cyclist to ever compete in the Tour in 2014, when he finished as the lanterne rouge, will work as a commentator on the race for Tencent.

Great Britain's Geraint Thomas won the opening individual time trial stage of this year's Tour after the Grand Départ in Dusseldorf, Germany.
