Arsenal and Intel extend immersive viewing content deal

  • Club see 90% increase in fans revisiting True View content compared with other highlights
  • Technology also used by Liverpool and Manchester City

Top-flight English soccer club Arsenal have announced a two-year extension of their partnership with Intel Sports to continue using the company’s True View immersive viewing technology.

The deal ensures that fans of the Premier League outfit will still be able to access highlights where they can freeze the match action and view 360-degree replays from an individual player’s perspective.

Arsenal first equipped their Emirates Stadium with True View technology in 2019, which included the installation of 38 5K ultra-high-definition cameras to produce immersive replays and highlights for the club’s owned and operated digital platforms.

According to an official release, Arsenal have seen a 90 per cent increase in fans revisiting True View content when compared with other match highlights.

As part of the renewed partnership, the pair are also collaborating on the Pandemic Response Technology Initiative, launched by Intel during the Covid-19 outbreak, by donating 250 laptops to local schoolchildren.

Peter Silverstone, Arsenal’s commercial director, said: “We know how much our supporters have enjoyed watching back our best moments using Intel True View technology over the past year, and we were delighted to be the first club to bring this technology to the Premier League.

“This transformative technology has redefined how we watch back the game that we all love, and we are excited to work with Intel on future innovations that will further enhance the experience for our global fanbase.”

True View is also used by two other Premier League clubs, champions Liverpool and Manchester City, the latter of whom agreed a multi-year extension with Intel at the end of June.

“Intel's technology partnership with Arsenal has delivered fans an unmatched ability to experience the game,” added James Carwana, general manager of Intel Sports.

“The club's innovative approach to integrating True View immersive media experiences at Emirates Stadium has been a testament to its dedication to their fans. As we continue to develop our volumetric video technology, we look forward to how else Arsenal can grow and scale immersive experiences with Intel Sports.”
