- Deltatre takes on overseas operational and commercial responsibility for joint venture
- Variety of firm’s products to be marketed to global rights holders
- Sportec Solutions has managed Bundesliga matchday data since 2017/18
Digital solutions company Deltatre has expanded its partnership with the German Football League (DFL) to extend their joint data gathering and monetisation tools to leagues and federations in international markets.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Deltatre takes a majority shareholding in Sportec Solutions, with products from the joint venture being made available to rights holders globally in order to help develop their own data provision services.
Deltatre will assume operational and commercial responsibilities outside of Germany, with Christian Holzer and Dr Hendrik Weber serving as managing directors.
Sportec Solutions currently boasts over 70 dedicated full-time staff based in Germany, as well as an additional 150 specific matchday operators. It has three operational locations, based in Munich, Cologne, and Hamburg.
Founded four years ago, Sportec Solutions has been responsible for live match data across German soccer’s Bundesliga top flight and 2.Bundesliga second tier since the start of the 2017/18 season.
In addition to being the DFL’s official data partner, the company is responsible for both Goal Line Technology (GLT) and Video Assistant Referee (VAR) operations across both leagues.
On average, nearly 65 million data points are gathered during every Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga matchday, with 3.6 million collected on average per game.
Deltatre chief executive Giampiero Rinaudo said: “The pace of development and innovation from Sportec Solutions has been extraordinary. Deltatre’s further investment underlines our belief that data collection, distribution, and analysis are all fundamental parts of the fan experience evolution.
“This agreement positions Deltatre as the technology partner of choice for sports organisations that want to control their own event data and associated monetisation opportunities.”
Christian Seifert, the DFL’s chief executive, added: “The expansion of Sportec Solutions reinforces the DFL’s ambition to play a leading global role, also with reference to media, technology and match data.
“Looking at match data specifically, the possible uses in sports and media analysis will continue to develop rapidly. As innovation leaders, DFL and Sportec Solutions will provide new impetus to these areas.”
