The Copa America, South America’s premier national team competition, has signed a content deal with social media giants Facebook to produce behind-the-scenes content for all 12 teams this summer.

The partnership will allow official tournament profiles on both Facebook and Instagram to produce content from training centres, hotels and team transportation.

Facebook will also utilises its ‘Watch Party’ feature during the tournament to encourage fans to interact with each other whilst watching the action.

“This agreement will enable the production of unique content that will bring all football fans behind the scenes of the world's oldest national team tournament and some of the top stars in today's football,” said Thiago Jannuzzi, competition general manager at Copa America.

Felipe Kozlowski, manager of Facebook's strategic sports partnerships for Brazil, added: “We know how passionate this [soccer] community is, and now Copa America fans can have new perspectives from the tournament and follow their backstage from a new look and interactive experiences.”

Brazil will host the tournament which will run from 14th June to 7th July with Chile looking to defend their title from 2016.

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Japan, Paraguay, Peru, Qatar, Uruguay and Venezuela will all compete for the title.
