The National Football League (NFL) and Hulu have announced a new multi-year carriage agreement to bring NFL Network and NFL RedZone to the Disney-owned streaming platform’s live subscription service.

The deal will kick in by the start of the 2021 NFL season, expanding distribution of the NFL’s owned and operated channels after the league signed its new long-term domestic broadcast packages.

The addition of NFL Network to Hulu’s live TV service brings year-round content to fans, including exclusive live games, studio shows and original series.

The NFL RedZone channel allows subscribers to watch the Sunday afternoon whiparound broadcast, which promises to show every touchdown during the regular season.

For Hulu’s four million live service subscribers, it adds valuable NFL content. Over the last five years, 24 of the top 25 and 77 of the top 100 most-watched broadcasts in the US have been NFL games.

"We are excited to bring NFL Network and NFL RedZone to Hulu + Live TV subscribers," said Hans Schroeder, executive vice president and chief operating officer of NFL Media, the league’s content arm.

"One of our top priorities as a league remains broadening the distribution platforms for NFL content, and so we're very pleased to bring our lineup of award-winning shows and live games to Hulu's live subscribers starting in the 2021 NFL season."

"With the addition of NFL Network and NFL RedZone to our channel lineup, Hulu + Live TV continues to be the ultimate destination for sports fans to watch thousands of hours of live sports programming," added Reagan Feeney, Hulu’s senior vice president, live TV content programming and partnerships. "Starting with the 2021 NFL season, our viewers will have a front row seat to exclusive live games, original shows and other NFL content year-round."

For Disney the NFL tie-up bolsters the platform’s sports content offering, adding to the deal to carry the National Hockey League (NHL), including platform exclusives for Hulu and the ESPN+ streaming service.
