ONE Championship taps Facebook in expansive content deal
  • Athletes to exclusively stream gameplay via ONE Esports Facebook Gaming channel
  • MMA promotion to create Oculus VR content for Venues app
  • ONE to put dedicated content on Facebook Watch and IGTV

ONE Championship, the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion, has signed a wide-ranging global partnership with social media giant Facebook spanning exclusive content, gaming and virtual reality (VR).

The deal will see ONE content shown on Facebook Watch, as well as create a dedicated Facebook Gaming channel where the promotion’s athletes will stream gameplay and commentary. In addition, ONE’s VR content will also be added to the Venues interactive live event second-screen experience on the Oculus platform.

As the Singapore-based promotion expands its social media strategy and bids to grow its 25 million-strong Facebook following, ONE will produce exclusive video for Facebook Watch and Instagram’s IGTV using unique camera angles and behind-the-scenes footage.

The promotion’s top athletes will also now exclusively live stream their own gaming activity on the newly launched ONE Esports Facebook Gaming channel, offering daily engagement opportunities.

The launch of ONE’s ‘Only on Oculus’ content, follows the likes of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Major League Baseball (MLB) in providing a dedicated VR offering for fans.

“Community is at the core of ONE Championship and we will continue to help them reach their audiences” said Joyee Biswas, Facebook’s director of sports partnerships in Asia Pacific (APAC).
