WTA and Stats Perform agree six-year data deal
  • Exclusive umpire-derived data and Opta analysts to provide comprehensive service
  • Enhanced stats to help create storytelling insights around players

The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has signed a six-year partnership with Stats Perform that sees the sports analytics firm become the tour’s official data supplier.

Stats Perform will be tasked with delivering real-time WTA gameplay statistics to broadcasters, sponsors, technology partners and fantasy games, while also using the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) capability to create data-driven insights around individual players.

The partnership will see the creation of an exclusive umpire-derived data feed for an expanded number of WTA matches, as well as an ultrafast data feed collected by Stats Perform’s Opta analysts. Other new data points include individual rallies and shot levels.

On the gambling side, the partnership also seeks to enhance the WTA’s in-play options, with enhanced data also being used to bolster Stats Perform’s existing WTA streaming service for betting platforms. The agreement also aims to elevate the betting experience through the delivery of faster, deeper feeds, and promote integrity in tennis via the provision of two operationally independent feeds.

WTA president, Micky Lawler, said: “Stats Perform has a history of creating innovative and trusted content and products that drive entertainment levels and new revenue streams for the professional sports ecosystem.

“We’re looking forward to discovering new and unique storylines surrounding the WTA Tour and our players and tournaments available in new, exciting and comprehensive ways.”
